This is a new year, and I guess my editor’s page should also take a new direction right? Oops, before I forget, Happy New Year to all our readers and welcome to 2023, it already promises to be an amazing year.
2022, was a slightly awesome year, with many challenges up and down. No one expected such turmoils around the world, but hey, they came, we survived it and we are still standing. So, it’s a good thing to celebrate.
Nigeria, as a country has had a lot of negative and not so inspiring stories around it, some of them mostly bordering around insecurity. Now, lets face facts, no one wants to invest their hard-earned money in an economy that is not secured right. And insecurity is therefore one of the biggest threats to the Nigerian economy.
It is understandable thus when potential investors shy away from investing in Nigeria or Africa as a whole, because of the unpredictability of their investments. Which is why, I salute the courage of men like Dr. Alex Otti, who continues to see good in the land. And is even daring enough to set up a bank, yes, a whole bank into the Nigerian economy.
It is a big deal for me because, he could have chosen to invest it in the West, or even any other African country that has a bit more stability. Instead, he chose to start his first owned digital bank, named Signature Bank in Abuja, Nigeria.
I salute his courage, and that is why he is our cover personality for the first edition of 2023, as we avail you further information about Signature Bank.
Tiwa Savage, is one artiste that has continued to evolve before our very eyes from just a singer, to a beauty entrepreneur with the prestigious MAC Maker. Wow, her story I definitely one to celebrate.
We have other stories as usual, we profile the gold business in Uganda, the discovery of oil in Northern Nigeria, security and technology, luxury designers and finally the interesting thrills and grills that the just concluded Qatar 2022 gave the world.
And of course, the Queen of Nollywood, Peace Anyiam Osigwe, the convener of AMAA Awards passed away recently and we couldn’t help but celebrate her achievements in the movie industry, in Africa.
What more can I say. This edition is as usual unputdownable. And I do hope you enjoy reading it, as much as we enjoyed putting the contents together.
See you in the next edition
Namaste
