Nigeria’s Cultural Olympics to Celebrate “Connected Culture” in the Coal City Nigeria
The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has confirmed Enugu State as the official host of the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), Nigeria’s premier cultural showcase known as the “Cultural Olympics.” Scheduled for November 22–29, this year’s festival will carry the theme “Connected Culture,” emphasizing unity through diversity.
Announced during a strategic meeting at the Government House in Enugu, NCAC Director General Obi Asika, alongside senior directors, met with Governor Peter Mbah and Enugu’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, to finalize preparations. Asika lauded the Governor’s infrastructural strides and commitment to cultural development, highlighting Enugu’s readiness to host over 5,000 delegates and visitors.
Governor Mbah welcomed the announcement, affirming the state’s preparedness and aligning NAFEST with his vision to grow Enugu’s economy and attract 3 million tourists annually. He pointed to key developments like the launch of Enugu Air, upgrades to heritage sites, and Enugu’s impressive hospitality ecosystem, including over 300 hotels.
