ROAD TO THE OLYMPICS 2021

Remember the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that was postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the Covid19 pandemic? Well, it finally started in July 2021, and in Tokyo, the originally scheduled location for it. Though it has been a long road for the athletes who had prepared years ahead for the Olympics, the football federation (FIFA), which had invested heavily in preparation as well as sports lovers, who had bought tickets ahead for the Olympics, booked flights and made travel arrangements for it.

Note that the Olympics brings a total of 11,000 athletes from 200 countries, who are expected to participate in 33 sports, with millions of spectators expected each year. Now that the Olympics eventually started, the audience is not disappointed, as the games are as fierce and interesting as ever, despite the many restrictions due to the pandemic. Athletes are encouraged to arrive soon before and depart almost immediately after their competition, and there are almost no spectators at most of the events. Instead, viewers are encouraged to view from home, as only about 1,000 individuals were able to attend the Olympics. However, the International Olympic Committee had reported that 69.4m people in Japan watched the 2020 Olympics on TV, this is a far higher viewing number than expected.

Athletes have been encouraged to come to the stadium an hour before their game and also leave immediately afterward. Also, there’s a leaked conversation where presenter Orla Chennaoui, was overheard saying she would prefer not to interview any Spanish cyclists after the men’s road race because a team masseuse had tested positive for Covid the previous day.
